Hi, I am Jess Andrenelli and on April 1st 2014 (April Fools Day) I moved to Hanoi to begin working as an assistant manager at Il Faro, an Italian restaurant and hotel in Tay Ho. I have a passion for Italian food and Vietnamese cuisine too, and I started this blog to share activities and events in Hanoi, and posts for delicious Italian food recipes that you can cook at home.

Since then I’ve worked as Wine Advisor with The Warehouse Hanoi, with Linguini Fini Hanoi as Manager & Marketing and for a time; Wine Consultant for Linguini Fini Hong Kong and manager of Stone Nullah Tavern Hong Kong. After returning to Hanoi, I had a great opportunity to work as an Account Manager with Da Loc Wines, after which I’ve started working as an operations manager for several restaurants and bars in Hanoi.

I’ve always believed if you have a book, fine wine, sunny weather and a little table outside in the shade then you are in heaven. Now I’m at the beginning of a journey through vineyards, aromas, flavours, history and tastes. It’s funny: I grew up in Chianti where I could see the vineyards from our villa and yet only now, here in Hanoi, I’m finally immersing my heart and taste buds into a world of excellent wines from all over the world and I know my journey will be exciting and adventurous.

For our Italian food lovers check out the Recipes. For Wine Lovers, events and wine tastings in Hanoi and ‘Nights out in the city’ for those who enjoy live music. Much more too, from archeological and cultural sites to visit in Vietnam  and our regular up-dates on ‘Meet The Bears’ at the Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary. For Wine Lovers check out the Events and Wine & Food Pairings.

Cheers

  1. Hey. So you’ve been following my blog for a while and have commented a couple times. Last night I just put the puzzle pieces together: I’m friends with Nicola, your chef and I’ve eaten at Il Faro several times. Great food. Small world.

  3. Hey Jess,

My name is Joe Pinzone and I’m casting an international travel show about expats moving abroad. We’d love to film in Vietnam and wanted to know if you could help us find expats who have moved there within the last 15 months or have been there for 3-4 years, but recently moved into a new home. The show documents their move to a new country and will place the country in fabulous light. You can also email me at joepinzone@leopardusa.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.

  4. I M always amazed that people are going to Vietnam on vacation and work, since we were in high school and college during the 60’s but c’est la vie! I have no doubt you will be successful wherever you go!
